BIM Authoring & Coordination

Porthill are a UK leader in the production of fully coordinated building models, at any stage of a project, be it design intent models for the Design Team, or Construction-coordinated models for the construction team. We specialise in MEP modelling, but also have expertise in Architectural and individual trade modelling. Our experienced BIM Authors produce coordinated models to the latest industry BIM standards, and are familiar with authoring models in a collaborative environment, such as the processes described in PAS-1192-2.

Smart Building Technology

Our Smart Buildings team work with Clients to help make the best use of building data. We have developed a smart cloud-based building data integration system called IBIS (Intelligent Building Information System). IBIS integrates building data from a wide range of devices and equipment for both new and legacy buildings. For newer buildings, it also integrates BIM models to utilise as part of the interface.

Our experts also perform energy audits and advise Clients on ways to reduce their energy burden.

BIM Model Management

Porthills Model Managers perform hands-on model management at project level to provide continuous model auditing and guidance to the whole supply chain on behalf of the delivery team. This service includes management of Federated Models, chairing coordination review meetings and issue tracking to ensure the integrity of the models are maintained to carry out the intended BIM Uses.

BIM Implementation & Training

We assist businesses in the Built Environment in creating and implementing a BIM strategy, including tailored training, technology & process advice and software implementation. We are not affiliated with any software vendor so any software advice will always be based on the best needs for the business.

We create BIM Objects of construction components, aligned to the latest BIM Object Modelling Standards, delivered in all common formats and containing the relevant information for COBie data extraction.

3D Printing

Production of physical 3D models printed in a variety of materials to assist with visualisation.

Scan to BIM

We offer a Scan to BIM service, which is the fastest method of capturing very accurate geometry of a built area. We then post-process the resulting point-clouds and author a BIM model to create a quality, digital As-built model.

Model Validation

We can take models produced by your modelling suppliers and validate them against the projects selected BIM Uses. We are also developing systems to automatically validate models for code compliance.
